The Glitch Research Center
In May 2024, Los Pobres Artistas participated in a month-long creative residency at the Rotten City Cultural District’s (RCCD) Bay Street Home Base in Emeryville. As part of the Glitch Research Center, we developed public activations blending glitch aesthetics, performance, and interactive installations. The residency—part of a new artist initiative supported by the City of Emeryville—allowed us to reimagine digital error as a form of creative expression in a dynamic and accessible cultural space.
Over the course of the month, we filled the space with paintings, live music, one community workshop, and three public activations. We collaborated with Cabaret La Sandía on a circus performance that merged live performance with visual art, and we painted a mural honoring the Ohlone people, connecting our work to the land’s history and community roots.
